My name is John and I am an elementary education major.  I like little kids and I thought this was a good way to work with them and have time to coach hockey after school.  I have been a hockey player since Kindergarten and play pro for a couple of years. I really enjoy helping kids get better at the sport, it has so much to offer kids.  I have been an assistant coach for the past two years.

  1. Hi John, as an elementary education major, how do create a championship classroom. Do you think hockey strategies will work in the classroom? If so, how?

  2. Hi John,
I am an eighth grader at Hail Mary school in Virginia. One of my teachers is also a coach and he rockers. I bet that you could use your coaching skills in the classroom. Winning is the classroom is not about just winning and losing (or a final score). It is about helping students like me become winners!

  3. Hi John,
I was just thinking about the post I made, perhaps you should also consider getting to know the families of the hockey students you coach. It will better help you understand the student strengths, weaknesses. It will also help you know what the academic needs and struggles they currently have. After all, with the 'no pass, no play' rule, they have to pass academically or you will not have a hockey team at all. Something for you to think about.

  4. Hi John,
I am also studying to be a teacher. I can't wait to be out there teaching. I have worked with many kids that need help. Some say they are bored with school, and some are afraid because they do not understand what the teacher asks them to do. There are some that think it is too late to get help. I hope you find ways to help kids like these. I am working on it.
